Hi.

TIA for any ideas.

My washer will not spin, but does agitate. The water drains from the tub and the timer continues through the cycle. It sounds like there is a hum during the spin part of the cycle.

I just purchased this rather old machine from my landlord who said that it was working before he put it in his basement, so the spin cycle stopped working either while it was sitting in the basement, or during the move into my apartment.

Thanks again,
Kirsten

Hi Kirsten

Here is the likely, but not certain part you would need,

Part number: AP4009132
Part number: AP4009132

and here is tech bulletin from maytag about it

My own feeling is that this is too old a machine to fool with, and I advise you to return it to your landlord, get your money back and check Craigslist or other used goods site and purchase a nice, top loading Whirlpool/Kenmore machine. In our area they go for about $100 to $150, and they will do a very nice job for you and if in good condition it should be pretty much trouble free.

Good luck.
