Model Number: SAWS800MQ0 Brand: Whirlpool Age: 5 - 10 years
This washer will agitate and spin. It now has a wobbly agitation and slow spin. I can stop it with my hand while holding on to the agitator when in cycle. I can only wash very small load and with regular load, it doesnt work well.
Could this be the agitator dawgs? Do I need to buy the rebuilt it, #285811? Please help Everything else works, motor works, etc Ads By Google Related Models |

This sounds like either multiple problems, with the dogs and the clutch being the issues or else a transmission problem. Since the dogs are easy to replace and cost very little, go ahead and change them out and see if that fixes the agitation problem. If so, then go ahead and replace the clutch.
Here is the clutch part. Part number: AP3094537

Thank you
It turns out the problem is a slow spin only and the clothes remain wet. I understand it needs a clutch. Question: when assembling the clutch, do I need to rotate/wind the brake clockwise or counterclockwise? Or do I just need to make sure the brake and clutch are at opposite ends and not wind it? Will it self wind when put back together--or as long as it is put back together it will self wind and I should not worry. |

As long as the brake cam is not riding on the spring it will be fine. And if it is riding on the spring you will be unable to insert the tube back in, so it should all work out correctly.
