About every 3rd load machine won't spin while draining. If you open and close the lid it will start spining. Everything works fine maybe 2 out of 3 times.

This washer has a neutral drain transmission. This means that directly after agitation, it should drain without spinning. After draining, the motor should pause for a few seconds which releases neutral drain. When the motor starts again, it should spin while continuing to drain. If the motor doesn't pause after draining, the timer is bad. By opening/closing the lid, you are pausing the motor. If the motor pauses but the basket doesn't start spinning when it starts again, you would need to remove the cabinet, jump out the lid switch and observe the clutch to determine if the clutch is slipping or if there is a problem with the transmissions neutral drain mechanism.
