The washing machine works great except for on the spin cycle. It doesn't seem to be spinning fast enough to pull the water out of the clothes. Also, at the end of the spin cycle it has a very loud brake sound. any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks.

The first thing I would check out is this lid switch problem identified by Maytag in this service bulletin

http://www.servicematters.com/m...rary/docs/TDL-0127-B.pdf

If that is not the problem, check the drain pump and drain lines for partial obstruction.

Problem: 18yr old Maytag Atlantis™ Washer; model MAV7700A, top load washing machine would not spin fast; clothes stay wet that you can wring it with your hand; the tub will completely drain all the water at the end of the cycle; everything mechanical/electrical works; pulley and belt, belt tension, etc are all OK when you tilt the washing machine on its side and examine them.
