Washer won't spin, but grinding
Model Number: Lsq8520jq0 Brand: Whirlpool Age: 5 - 10 years
My whirlpool washer fills, (don't know about agitate), then drains without spinning but does make a grinding noise. Gearbox bad?

Washer still grinds
To continue this question, I replaced the direct drive coupling which was broken. The washer now fills and agitates normally, but when it spins there is still a loud intermittent grinding noise. When the washer is off, I cannot move the agitator, and can only move the drum with difficulty. Any and all ideas welcome.
