I had the repairman to clean the filter on the maytag maxima washer. He had to take the washer apart to get to it. When he put it back together he couldn't get the door lock to work. Now he says I need a $245. new door lock mechanism. He took the top off and got it to open but washer won't work. Any ideas?

Yes, tell the company that sent out the repair person that they need to fix this at no charge.

If they resist contact the BBB and/or consumer protection agencies in your area and state. If the door lock mechanism was ok before the repair person arrived then they need to fix it at their expense, and you need to insist on your consumer rights.

Thanks for your response. He is independent. I should have called the Maytag service.
