Maytag Performa Washer loug banging noise when stopping
Model Number: PAV1000AWW Brand: Maytag Age: More than 10 years
The unit makes a very loud single bang when spinning stops. I have replaced the snubber ring. Can you tell me what the problem is?

This sounds very much like a brake problem, and you may need to change out the parts. However you will need a special tool to safely compress the brake spring as it is under huge pressure. Be very careful.
