machine stops/pauses during wash cycles. these "stops" are NOT the normal, momentary pauses that the machine goes through as it moves from wash to rinse to spin, etc. the timer assembly module was replaced 2+years ago (GE part #wh12x1022). repairable OR replace??

Sounds like the timer assembly again, and given the age and the fact that something may causing it to fail I would recommend a new machine. A no frills top loader will do a great job for you, last a long time, and clean your clothes about as good as a fancy, computer controlled machine.
