Hello all,
I apologise if there is already a post on this washer issue but I did a search for the model and no posts were returned. On to the problem, I have an Whirlpool Imperial washer which I purchased used. This washer has had no problems except when it goes to spin. It will go though all cycles no problem but when it spins the water will pump out but will not actually spin except when I lift the lid I hear a click and lower the lid it will start to spin. I am thinking it might be one of two things either the clutch is not working correctly or it could be the brake. I have even toyed with the notion it could be the transmission. Not really sure. The machine has worked well for the age but I would like to repair this unit but I don't really have the funds to pay for service. If there is anyone out there that has a solution to this problem I would greatly appreciate any input thanks in advance!

It is supposed to drain initially without spinning. It should drain for a minute or two and then the motor should pause for a few seconds and then start up again and spin while continuing to drain. When you lift the lid, you are pausing the motor. If the motor doesn't pause after drain, that's a timer issue.
