Model Number: LAT9406AAE Brand: Maytag Age: More than 10 years
I've been able to troubleshoot my maytag washer as the washer was not spinning. My motor needs to be replaced since i need to either nudge it to make it spin or move the pulley to get it to spin. If I take off the pulleys, the motor still won't kick in unless I gently hit the motor. So without my assistance, the motor will not spin and just make a loud buzzing noise.
Before I replace the motor, I was concerned if the transmission is what caused my motor to fail. I don't want the new motor to fail as well if the real problem was something else so that is why I'm checking to see if the transmission is okay. I did a quick check on my transmission by taking off the pulleys and I was able to turn the transmission wheel underneath the washer easily counter clockwise. But when I turned it clockwise, it would turn (not as easily as counter clockwise) but after a couple quarter turns, the orbital transmission would also turn (Is that what should happen?). When I kept turning clockwise, it sounded like something inside the orbital transmission was knocking. Should that be happening? I'm hoping that its just the motor that needs to be replaced and my transmission is okay. Any comments? or suggestions for how to check the transmission or anything else I should be checking? (the pump is clear, the lid switch assembly is working, the timer is working). Thank you, daniel Ads By Google Related Models |

Hi Daniel,
I don't think there is anything wrong with the transmission. Also if you'll order the motor from APP and it will fail within 365 days, you can easy return it. - The motor Part number: 12002353 Gene.
