Washing machine won't agiate but will spin and drian

Model Number: FWX223LBS7 Brand: Frigidaire Age: More than 10 years

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com

When the washing machine is started, it fills properly, but when the wash cycle begins, the machine emits a high-pitched squeal and begins to smoke and smell like burning rubber. The machine WILL spin and drain properly. Any ideas??

Hello,

Remove the washer front panel. Remove and check the belt. Check how freely the transmission pulley is moving in both directions. Post the results.
