Model Number: WTW4800XQ Brand: Whirlpool Age: 1 - 5 years
My washer is just 2 years and 4 days old...My problem is after the wash cycle the machine will stop and not rinse and spin out. Softener is left in the reservoir. The lid lock light keeps flashing. Finally I get the lid to open, then I tried washing in different settings and the same problem presented itself. Anyone with a solution please reply. I am on fixed income and I can't afford a service technician...

Does it drain? This washer design has been very problematic. Everything from broken wires, bad connections, bad shift actuators (very high failure rate), loose nuts on main drive pulley, bad control boards and bad pumps.
If it drains ok, I would first inspect underneath the washer. You will have to tilt it back to gain access. Remove the belt guard and check the nut on the bottom of the main pulley. They loosen up, dropping the pulley which prevents the splutch from engaging for spin mode. Up inside the cabinet, there should be a manual which will tell you how to get into diagnostic mode and how to test the various parts. How were you able to get the lid open? Did it unlock on it's own or did you force it open. If forced open, the washer will no longer function and the lid latch must be replaced. Eric |

Thanks for your quick reply....I had a friend come over and we checked everything that was visible and couldn't find anything wrong. We also tried to test various parts according to the service manual, but that did not work either. The machine does drain and fill. We are thinking the board is the problem. Any other suggestions out there would be appreciated....
