the top-loading washer part of the stackable combo is where I am having trouble. It fills with water and empties but does not agitate nor spin.

Take off the front cover and see if the belt is ok and if the motor is turning.
This will tell you where the problem is.

I believe that this model has a direct-drive coupler, not a belt. If you hear a sound like the motor turning when it should be agitating or spinning, it's probably the coupler. If there is no hum, then it's electrical.

Tried using it in "color" mode. the washer filled up, went thru the agitation cycle and the rinse (the tub turned slowly during the rinse)cycle but it would not kick into the spin cycle. If the belt and motor seem okay, could the problem be with the timer control?
