Model Number: 11042926200 Brand: Kenmore Age: 5 - 10 years
F-11 problem shortly after trying to start wash cycle. Already replaced CCU without benefit. Almost all other tests in the Service Manual are in Spec. Checked all that connections and wires - no obvious issue but cleaned connectors w QD Electronics Cleaner. Made sure all connections are snug. Checked the connections to the motor - all good. Windings in motor in spec on continuity test. Is there any way to find out if this is a fault within the wiring harness and where. Also any way to nail down whether this is an MCU problem. Again checked the continuity test and connections for the MCU and connections are snug and continuity readings at the MCU are nominal. Needless to say I am frustrated that I can't fix the machine and pin down what exactly is wrong. Replacing expensive parts to find out is not what I had in mind. TIA

Hi George,
The diagnostic test consists of 8 steps. Can you post which of them were out of spec and what was it? Check that the serial harness at the MCU is not mounted upside down. The wires should be to the left when facing the MCU connector. Gene.

Test sequence gives F11 error at C-2. When I check suggested causes all are in spec. When I have followed the service manual for f11 error, I am down to the Motor Control Board and the Wiring Harness. Already replaced the CCU. All tests listed in user manual are in spec except for checks that required running the machine. Needless to say I am not happy that there is no way to discern if it is the MCU or wiring without replacing them. Two questions I am most suspicious of a problem with the serial comm connector. Is the a way to buy replacement connectors to splice and try? What is the proper way to tight the connectors on each end? TIA

The first answer is No. Whirlpool does not sell it separate. I don't think it is possible to tight it. Based on the information you provided more likely the problem is a bad MCU. The part is expensive but if you'll order it from APP and it would not fix the problem then you can return it. - The MCU Part number: 8182706 Gene.

1. Replaced the CCU - no go.
2. Replaced the MCU - also no go. 3. Wire connectors checked and in the process of "tightening" - no go so far have done 11, 6,7, 8 connectors on CCU and all connectors on MCU - no go 4. Wirings on Motor all 6 ohms - nominal 5. Motor spins w/o difficulty 6. Connectors to motor are tight 7. Pulley belt in good shape. 8. Cleaned drain filter and tubes from tub to drain motor. 9. Impeller spins w/o difficulty and electrical contact appears solid 10. Cleaned tube for Pressure switch w ass plastic attachment to tub 11. Ordered new wire harness for CCU and waiting for it to come in. Needless to say this is my last shot at this. If the wire harness does not work will call Sears repairman. If you have any other ideas I am all ears. The door lock solenoid clicks twice in the early part of the cycle and door check indicates it is locked as it should be. Also no FDL errors. |

It should work with both new CCU and MCU installed. Otherwise I'm stumped. Unfortunately abilities of remote diagnosis are limited.
