Model Number: GHW9400 Brand: Whirlpool Age: 5 - 10 years
Hello,
I have a whirlpool GHW9400PL4 and am experiancing a problem that I believe is related to the motor/control boards. Whenever I run a cycle, when I reach a spin cycle the machine will stop and display the error code F06. I have checked the connections related to the motor, and all seemed clean except for at the wiring harness at the motor. I cleaned some oxidation from these conections with sandpaper, and sprayed the connections with some WD40. The washer worked fine for 2 weeks afterwards. Now when reaching a spin cycle the time remaining flashes, the washer attempts to resume its cycle. After a couple of repititions of flashing and resuming, the error code F06 appears again. One other detail - I can run the system through the full set of diagnostic tests without any issues with the motor spinning. Also, I can occasionally get the machine to run a full cycle if I unplug it for a couple of hours and try again. At this point I am leaning towards the issue being control board related - does that sound right? Any suggestions? Do I need to do a better job of cleaning the electrical contacts at the motor wiring harness? Is it another problem, like the MCU? Any help would be greatly appreciated! I have checked the resistances across the motor pins at the wiring harness. The resistance across Pins 1-2, 1-3 and 2-3 are all 6 ohms, and the resistance across Pins 4-5 is 118 ohms.
I have ordered the wiring harness - when it is in I will replace it and see if that works. Is there anything else I should be testing while waiting for the part to arrive? |

Hi.
You may order the MCU also. It can be return if you don't need it (even if you install it). Simon.
