Model Number: lse 9900 stack unit Brand: -brand- Age: More than 10 years
I have an old(21 years) Maytag stack unit working fine until 2 days ago--started smelling like burned rubber and would not agitate. Replaced both belts and unit worked long enough to wash one small load. Larger load a day later and back to smelling and no agitation. Spin cycle works fine and pump works. Anyone have experience replacing the bearings, transmission, and brake. Looks like the transmission and clutch are pre-assembled units.
Anyone know if they simply slide over the shaft. Would be interested in help diagnosing/repairing this problem. I have looked at new stack units and most will not fit in the area where this unit sits--36 wide by 30 inches deep. Also, reviews on new stack units are not very good.
