Frigidaire washer stops prior to rinse cycle

Model Number: FWS235RFS3 Brand: Frigidaire Age: More than 10 years

hello I have a frigidaire washer that stops short of the rinse cycle. I can pull on the knob and push it back in and it will kick back on. Unfortunately, after doing this it begins to leak out of the bottom front. It then stops shor again of the final spin, if I pull the knob and push it back in the machine starts the spin cycle normally. Any ideas?

This sounds like a problem with the timer, but they would not explain the leaking.

Given the age of the machine I would say you have more than got your money worth, and given these problems I think a nice basic top load replacement is in order. Prices are very good right now.
