the agitator is not spinning at all,the water is draining ok, I checked the belt and pulley, the pulley is turning fine and the belt shows no fraying. Does this model require special tools to remove the agitator and fabric disp. assembly, or is this only able to be removed by a service person?

See if there is a screw that holds the agitator on under the fabric softener cup. Unless the agitator is loose thought this could be a transmission problem.
