Hey guys, new here looking for help. I have a top load washer that after it spins, and is trying to stop, it sounds like the jake brake on a semi. It stops, but man is that loud. Any ideas?

You have dragging brake shoes; should be repaired before more serious damage is done! Go to my "sticky" "replacing direct drive brake shoes" for info on this.

I am not sure that's it. I took the drum out, and on the top of the shaft there are 2 teeth. These look like the line up with 2 indents on the inside of the drum. there are metal shavings everywhere and the teeth on the shaft seem worn down. Can the shaft be replaced?

You will need to purchase the special spanner wrench to tighten that spin basket nut properly once fixed. Usually the spin tube tabs get a ramp worn on them. Remove the top seal and file the tabs to remove the ramp, then buy a new drive block available on this site, should fix it.
