How to remove agitator from GE washer
Model Number: WLRR5000G0WW Brand: GE Age: 1 - 5 years
Has softner basket on top of agitator. Once this is removed, No nut is apparent. Does it just pull up?

Yes, but it takes a bit of force. Best way is to place a flat strap under it and yank it straight up. Watch out you don't hit yourself in the face when it pops off.
