Ive got a whirlpool wte4800xq1 that makes a loud gear stripping like noise. Upon researching I have found several people and a technition who recommended I check the pulley nut to see if loose...i would like to know where this is located how to get to it and what it looks like if possible. My daughter had triplets recently and well...needless to say er really need to fix this. Thank you so much

Hi.

You should check:
- the drive pulley and nut ( loose, cracked or worn out)
- belt (cracks and missed pieces)
- drain pump
- transmission
All this parts you can check from underneath the washer.

You have to lay the machine on it's front side to get to the bottom where these parts are. Remove the belt shield to get to the nut on the pulley. If it is loose, apply some blue 242 loctite before tightening. Another common problem with this unit is the shifter. It shifts the splutch between agitate and spin mode. It is the device next to the large pulley that has "synchronous motor" written on it. You didn't say when it makes this noise.
