Our stackable washer stopped working today. It will fill/agitate fine, but when it gets to the drain cycle it will just stop. My wife first reported the issue yesterday. I checked it and by pressing on the dryer start button the washer started the drain cycle and continued to work.

Today she called me and said that the washer stopped again and that she saw smoke coming out of the tub when she lifter the lid. The washer will fill with water/agitate, but will stop right when it gets to the next cycle, the drain.

I've checked the belts, removed the pump, and checked the door latch for continuity and everything is fine.

I've taken the front cover off and when the drain cycle arrives, the motor clicks and just stops. At one time I could actually hear clicking noises coming from the washer knob. I really don't want to buy a new washer if

It is possible your motor is bad, but since it operates in one direction I think a more likely suspect is the timer.

If you buy from this site and the part does not fix the problem you can replace it.
