Model Number: WHDSR315D5WW Brand: GE Age: 5 - 10 years
My GE transmission bearing needs replacing. No Appliance Parts Co. sells the bearing or seal, but if I can get it out, I will take it to a business that deals in bearings/seals. I am told that I must purchase a new transmission to get a new bearing/seal.
So...has anyone done this job and if so, how would I do it? Thanks ahead of time, Ads By Google Related Models |

i discovered yesterday that i have exactly this same problem, but ordered the replacement transmission. will try to remove the bearing from the old one and see what i can do, so that when it fails again, i'm ready.
another post on this forum mention using a grinder to remove .010" from the ID of a bearing obtained from an auto parts store, but not sure if that's "precision" enough to keep rotating assembly centered. GE Washer Roars During Spin Cycle |

sorry, didn't really search high-n-low, "diminishing returns". ereplacement parts didn't carry my model number (WJRR4170...), so i just caved and went with GE replacement parts, came out to $199 with shipping, tax, etc for the transmission. and a separate order (i wasn't thinking), spent another $60 for tub bearing, seals, washers, etc. i just wanna get this over with. my GF is trying to talk me into just buying a new washer, just can't afford it.
