GE washer agitating violently
Model Number: WJRE5500G0WW Brand: GE Age: 1 - 5 years
My GE washer is cycling normally but in agitate it makes a horrible noise, and seems to jerk the machine. Here is a video:

The basket is agitating which it should not be doing, caused by the mode shifter not energizing. Check the led on the inverter board above the motor for an error code flash. If it flashes 4 times then pause, then 4 times...etc. it means the mode shifter coil is likely bad.
