My washer dispenser drawer will empty the detergent, and bleach sections during a cycle, but the softner section remains full of softner after the wash cycle is complete. Should I replace the valve unit that has the 3 solenoids in it ?

That is likely the problem but first make sure the tube from the dispenser running to the washer is clear.

Also, see if the tech notes inside the lower service panel give some help in testing the valve assembly.
