My Maytag washer won't spin after the wash cycle while the machine is draining. If you lift the lid you can hear it kick into gear and then it will spin. Spins fine in spin cycle. Replaced the timer and still have the problem. Any ideas?

It's not supposed to spin during the initial drain period right after agitate mode. The gearcase has a neutral drain mechanism that prevents spinning during drain. After drain, the motor should pause for a few seconds, and then start again. The pause releases the neutral drain. At that point, it should spin and continue draining. By opening/closing the lid, you are simulating the pause to release neutral drain.
