Agitator makes a scraping noise. Also, leakage flooded our basement. Washer is 1 year, 1 month old. (a month out of warranty!) 1. Noise: When I checked underneath, the belt had clearly been contacting the plastic case that covers the pulley. There were black particles in the vents of the casing and some of the vents were broken. I pushed the belt up (through the vents) with a screwdriver so that it did not contact the casing. 2. Leak: I checked all hoses & drainage: no loose connections or leaks evident. 3. I plugged back in and did a small load on regular light setting: Some scraping noise evident on agitator use. NO leakage at all. 4. Tried a larger load on medium water level on regular light setting. More frequent & louder scraping noise evident. No leakage. QUESTIONS: Is the belt loose & does it need to be replaced? or does the pulley wheel need to be tightened? Why did we have a flood? Did something overheat and affect the water level sensor? Or is the sensor working because I am only doing low water level loads? Thanks for your help!

A common problem with this new design is loosening of the nut that holds the drive pulley on. Remove the belt guard and check the nut. If it's loose, apply some blue 242 locktite to the threads before tightening.
