Model Number: GLTF1040ASo Brand: Frigidaire Age: More than 10 years
There's no cold water on the wash cycle, but on the rinse cycle there is plenty of cold water. I just replaced the intake valve, but that didn't solve the problem. I'd appreciate any suggestions on what to try next. Thanks.

Since the intake valve opens for the rinse cycle this would seem to be a problem with the temp selection switch or the control unit. You will probably have to try changing both to see which one is the problem, but if you buy the parts from this site you can return the one you don't need.

Thanks so much for your help, Sid. I'm new to this, so I hope you'll pardon the following dumb questions:
1. The temp selection switch -- That's the part labeled '13' on the control panel chart, right? (part #1483044 / AP4365631 / mfg 134904500) 2. Nothing comes back when I search for 'control unit', and I don't find it on the diagrams. Does it go by another name? Do you happen to have a part number for it? |

Thanks, the problem was the temperature switch. It looks like one of the prongs shorted out and melted part of the white plastic wiring receptacle the switch plugs into.
I don't see that white receptacle in the parts diagram. Is it available? How hard is it to replace that white receptacle? Thanx again. |

Not have that model in front of me I don't know if the receptacle is replaceable, and it probably is not.
If you are even slightly handy with wiring I would wire it direct using either wire nuts or a crimp connector.
