Default GE Profile keeps beeping
Model Number: WPSQ3120T6WW   Brand: GE   Age: 1 - 5 years

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com

Hi all,

I'm having issues with my GE Profile (Model number: WPSQ3120T6WW), as it will continuously beep, and will not complete a cycle. It started when I replaced the timer assembly (the plastic tabs broke off of the original), and it will now occur with or without the lid down. It fills with water, agitate for a little while, and then start beeping. The cycle stops, and, then, as mentioned, the beeping begins... The only way to stop it is to push in the timer knob (as in, even with the lid up, it still occurs). I've gone so far as to replace the replacement timer assembly (thinking it was bad or the incorrect version on the first replacement), and also have tried unplugging to reset any "cycle" it may be in, but to no avail.

I'd prefer to not have to call someone out, so I'm hoping it's a quick fix or something simple.

Any help/suggestion would be greatly appreciated... Thanks in advance!!

Can you post a clear copy or picture of the wiring diagram and timer chart from the mini-manual behind the front panel? You list this as 1-5 yrs old but this is a 16 year old model.

Regarding the age, I was going off of the conversation from the prior owner, when he said he had just gotten it... It looks VERY good for 16 years, if that's the case!!

Ok, wanted to see if the program switch assembly was electronic control. It isn't. I don't see how the beeper can work with the lid up unless the lid switch has failed. Anyway, this has to be a timer issue. Are you sure you got the right timer? I show it as part no. WH12X1034 (175D2307P007). Check these numbers against your original timer. You said it won't complete a cycle after agitation. So it doesn't drain or spin at all?

Here's what can happen if you have the wrong timer, and this mimics exactly what's happening with your washer. In your diagram on the left, when it's time for pumpout, timer contacts R8/R7 close completing the circuit to the pump motor. In the diagram on the right which is another GE timer circuit, contacts R8/R9 are used for pumpout. If you were using that timer in your washer, the closing of R8/R9 will turn your beeper (buzzer) on. Nothing else will happen unless the tub empties, which it can't, due to the wrong timer.

Eric,

Thank you so much for your assistance... When I was researching the timer assembly, I kept getting two different possible model numbers (WH12X1021 [175D2307P006] and WH12X1034 [175D2307P007]), but the -1021 seemed to show up a few more times, so I went with that one. I couldn't (and can't) make out the numbers on the original timer, which I guess is the root of all of this in the first place!! I'll work on getting the -1034 assembly, and will keep you posted.

Again, thank you so much for your time and help!!

Brad

Eric,

Also, would you happen to know if there is a way to drain my washer although it is not able to go through a whole cycle?? As of now, it's considerably filled from the start of the cycle, but it has nowhere to go.

You got an old zip cord style extension cord laying around? (or just make one out of lamp cord) Cut the receptacle off the end, install two female quick disconnects on the wires. Open the front panel of the washer by inserting putty knife into top groove on each side in line with the lid opening. Pull slightly on each side as you push the knife into the groove to release the clips. Tilt panel out and lift from the washer. Pump is at bottom right. Pull the two disconnects off of it, plug your cord into the pump and plug it into wall socket. Polarity doesn't matter.

Once it's drained, it will probably work in spin mode. You can just disconnect the orange wire from that little electronic beeper behind the panel to shut it up.

If there are other issues with that timer in spin mode that make the motor hum without starting, turn it off right away. You don't want to cook that motor.

Eric

Eric,

I finally got my hands on the timer assembly you listed, and everything ended up working out just fine. I guess the third time WAS the charm with this - I'm just surprised there were so many other incorrect timer assembly part numbers listed in many different places!! I very much thank you for ALL of your insight and assistance with this.

Many thanks again,
Brad
