very loud in spin can i replace the bearing or does gearbox need to be replaced too please advise

Open the front panel by inserting a putty knife into the top groove in line with the lid opening on each side to release the clips. Tilt the panel out and lift from the cabinet. Put it in spin mode and try to find where the noise is coming from. Grab the two front suspension rods and see if moving them around a little affects the noise. This washer doesn't have a gearbox, it has a shaft/mode shifter assembly. A steady roaring noise could be caused by the tub bearing or the tub seal if water has gotten around it. Inspect the bottom center of the tub from underneath for any leakage. Even if it hasn't leaked through, it could still be the seal which is a cheap fix, but you have to remove the agitator, agitator coupling, tub nut and basket. The tub nut requires a spanner wrench to loosen. Replacing the tub bearing requires complete disassembly.
