Default Washer Constantly Spins
Model Number: 110.26954690   Brand: Kenmore   Age: More than 10 years

I have a Kenmore washer that is in constant spin mode. If I start a new wash cycle the washer will fill as normal, but the minute I lower the lid it starts to spin. All the cycle control buttons seem to work, but I can't get it to stop spinning unless I open the lid or turn the washer off.

All controls are electronic with soft face push buttons. My guess is there is a fault in the electronic control board and the control board needs to be replaced to correct the problem. Can you confirm this or do you have other advice on what I can do?

The washer is in excellent shape and I would be willing to repair the washer if repair is simple and at a reasonable cost. I've looked at the board and it appears easy to replace.

Thanks

This problem could cause by any of following three parts: a stuck key on the key panel, a shorted control board or a stuck relay on the relay board.

Inside the control panel should be the tech sheets with the complete diagnostic instructions. If you do not know how to use it - post it on the forum.

Gene.

Thank you for the quick replay.

Your shorted control board comment reminded me that when I discovered the washer was stuck in the spin cycle, I smelled a strange odor similiar to an electrical burn. I examined the front of the board and didn't see any obvious signs of burned components. I'll check the back of the board also.

I also noted an "LF" error message, which means "Long Fill," but when I checked the error out, the water flow in and out of the machine seemed normal.

I found the operational test booklet and will go through the tests tomorrow.

I'm leaning toward a shorted out control board. I'll post the results of the operational test tomorrow.
