Washer won't stop filling
Model Number: MAVT634AWW Brand: Maytag Age: 5 - 10 years
This all started with the washer not agitating. I did some research online and found that it was either a plastic piece or the transmission. So, I tore it apart. It was not the plastic piece. Since it would fill, drain, and spin, I knew it was the transmission. I had also came across, if the washer is not ten years old, the transmission is still covered under warrenty. So, the owners of the machine called someone to replace the tranny. I had installed another wash machine while we waited for it to be fixed. So the machine was not tested until tonight and the fill level switch is not working right. It is not the inlet, because it will stop when when you push the button in to stop it. When I tore it apart, I did remove all wires. I took pictures and made a couple movies in order to get them all back in the right spot. They are all in the same spot, the only one I'm not sure of is green ground wire. This wire comes up through the top metal piece in under the control panel. It then has a round metal loop that I know gets screwed to the top piece, it then continues to a metal clip. The clip seems as though it would slide over something. I would image it has to slide over a metal piece somewhere but I do not know where that piece is. Under the control panel there are plastic tabs sticking out that this clip fits on, but it won't stop filling and there is no need for the wire to continue past the metal loop if it does not connect to a metal piece, correct? I've looked at the wiring diagram, but I do not know how to read them, nor do I see that wire or where the last clip should go. There is no place for it on the level switch. The next thing I'm going to check is to make sure that the level sensor tube is not clogged with something. Any other ideas?
