Whirlpool (who makes your machine) and others have put in microprocessor controls and diagnostics to "improve" the machine and "improve" trouble shooting for repairs. Unfortunately the opposite has pretty much occurred.
You problem could be the central control unit, the motor control unit, the door lock assembly or the wiring. The top suspects are the CCU and the door lock assembly. If you undo the lower panel you should find some tech notes which explain the error codes and the way to put the machine into a diagnosis mode. Here is the tech notes if you do not have them. http://www.servicematters.com/docs/w...%208182277.pdf If a check of the wiring does not reveal a problem, and the diagnostics do not give you a definitive answer you are probably going to have to go the route of replacing parts on speculation. Unfortunately that is the repair methodology when these types of electronic controls have been put in place.

This reply I received is below......I ordered the CCU part as it seems to be the most probable culprit based on all the other research I have done...part was about $200.00........however, when I took the top off the machine and tried to use it......it worked fine....no codes........will try that trick for awhile.......before trying to install new parts. See below:

Am having the same F11 codes u had. Worked with the top off for me too. ( how weird is that - what can it have to do with anything electric?)
Anyway, wanted to know what u finally did. ( at least having the part # screw up makes me feel better about possibly having to call a repair guy, he would have to keep trying until he got it right - but am sure would cost a lot too) Anyway just curious to know the final outcome. Thanks. Cathy |

The worse purchase we ever wasted 1700.00 on. Live and learn i guess. Seems these problems have been going on for many years and the consumer is the only one who looses here. The machines are not backed up and can never be fixed. we have been fighting the f 11 dl codes for years. went through every diaganosis there is. the only thing that will run my washer is a good swift "fonzie" slam on the right side. Ususally I keep an empty Tide bottle handy and slam it. the door never locks with out some persuading and if it does, typically, it will take a day to do one load of laundry becase part way through the cycle it will stop and go to f 11. Until i can afford another machine, and trust me it wont be a front loader POS, I will buy a top loading machine that I can trust. Any advice would be great, other i will continue to beat my he4t like a drum.
