machine fills with water then stops and will not agitate. I can hear the timer ticking and if switched to spin, the basket spins and the water drains out. The agitator has been working on and off for about two weeks, but now won't work at all.

Does the motor run when it should agitate? Does it make any noise besides the timer ticking at that time?

Here are the breakdown diagrams and Parts for Whirlpool KAWS700LQ0 Washer - AppliancePartsPros.com

There is no noise at all. The water shuts off and the only sound is the timer ticking. The motor is not running at all.

Open the control panel and check the wires connected to the timer.

If there is nothing wrong, replace the timer.

- The timer Part number: 3954848
Part number: 3954848

Could be bad contacts in the water level switch. After the washer stops filling and switches to agitate, turn washer off, pull wires off water level switch and place a good jumper between the tan and violet wires. Turn washer back on and see if it works.
