I am trying to install a new door boot. I removed the other one ok but am having trouble putting the new one on. I followed the instructions from a previous post. It says once to get the old boot off you put the retaining strap on the new one. My problem is I can't get the boot back into the washer without the strap coming off.

I can only tell you this is a difficult task on all front loaders, and that you probably need four hands, meaning you need a helper.
There are indentations to line up on most of these front loading GE's. Make sure you have everything aligned correctly.

I did get it on once but forgot to put the retaining wire on. I couldn't get the wire on so I took the boot off. Originally Posted by: sidfink43 I can only tell you this is a difficult task on all front loaders, and that you probably need four hands, meaning you need a helper.
