Hi All,

I have a Maytag front load washer - model mfw9700sq1.
I keep getting SUD and F02 (drain) codes.
I tried cleaning the drain catch, in which was only 6 coins.
I'm still getting the errors.
When i get the drain error.
I hit stop and restart the washer and it pumps out the water fine.
As if there were no problem.
Not sure if the pump is bad, maybe timing out or something?
Just want to make sure there isn't anything else to try before buying a new pump.
I read one thing online about a pressure switch for the SUD error?
Any ideas?

I would try a new pressure switch. If you buy from this site and the part does not fix the problem you can return it.

It may pump water out OK without an error after a restart because it is not monitoring the time it takes to pump out.
The error is it thinks it is taking too long to pump out.

Another thing I would try is remove the drain hose and check it.
Depending on what detergent and fabric softener you are using it could be growing gunk in the drain hose and restricting the water flow.

Thank you Sidfink and Denman. I appreciate your input. I already have a pump on order. When it comes in, I will replace it and remove the drain hose and check. I will also double check the hose for the pressure switch. If I still have the problem, I will replace the pressure switch.
I will repost what worked.

Hi Guys,

Well here's the scoop.

I received my new pump.
I ripped out the old pump and drain hose completely out.
When I removed the drain hose from the back of the pump, I found a penny in there by the impeller.
I ran water through both drain hoses, finding no build-up inside.
I reassembled all, using the new pump.
I also reseated the connector for the pressure switch, at the switch and into the control module.
So far, we have done at least 10 loads of laundry.
We have not had 1 error code yet.
Previously, we would get a code on every single load.
So, in hind sight, I wish i removed the penny I found, then reassembled, not touching or replacing anything else, to see if that was the cause.
I have no idea if my pump was going bad, or it was the penny, or reseating the switch connectors, or combination of all.
My old pump, may still be good for all I know.
I'm not feeling ambitious enough to try and reinstall the original pump to find out.
Its working, so I'm going to leave well enough alone.
I'll keep the pump, just in case I may need it someday.

Great, sounds like Denman was right on about this one.

Don't think about it as having bought a part you may not have needed, think about it as having saved hundreds from a service call.
