Model Number: WBXR2060V1AA Brand: GE Age: 5 - 10 years
This happened suddenly on a small load of clothes and now it will not drain. All other cycles (except spin of course) work fine. I would like to "do it myself" but I can't figure out how to get into the darn thing.

Insert a putty knife or screw driver in the gap between the top and front near the edges and you will release clips that will allow the front to come off.
Look for something clogging the pump or drain hoses, and check to see if the pump is getting current.

I tried a screwdriver right at the top but when it started bending I was convinced that I might not be doing the correct thing. There seems to be some kind of attachment towards the bottom middle.

Look at this diagram, and part number 373.
Replacement parts for GE WBXR2060V1AA | AppliancePartsPros.com Insert the screw driver (or better yet a think putty knife) straight in to release the clips. You should not have to bend anything. Unless your model has something different than this diagram that should work.

Thanks, I was able to remove the door. I removed the hose from pump and the basket. No obstructions that I could find in either. I tried to turn the fan in the back of the pump and it's difficult to turn. I don't think it should be; do I need a new pump?

You are right, the pump should turn freely, if it does not you should replace it.
Its not expensive and since you have already removed the front panel, should be a piece of cake. Part number: AP3160348
