Direct Drive motor new and just "hums"
A seal gave out and leaked water inside all the working parts in my washer so I basically replaced everything.
When I got it back together the motor spun and was a little loud but then stopped and only hummed and dimmed the lights on the circuit I had it plugged into while testing. I then unhooked it from the transmission and tried and all it did was hum. Naturally I bought a new motor... same deal. Just a hum and it's getting hot. Any help? |
Thanks for the help

You need to measure the capacitance using the multimeter.
It should be around 200 MF. Simon. |
Bought a new capacitor. Still hums. Will start spinning once I manually spin it. Will NOT start itself??? WHAT THE HECK!!! Brand new motor, brand new capacitor.

Bump for some help please. My family of 7 needs to do laundry

Hi.
Check the wire harness and all the disconnect plugs (at the motor switch, timer and between). Check for broken wire at the motor plug. Simon. |
The timer contacts for start current may be blown open, amprobe would confirm. If the cover will come off the timer, just check for burnt contacts.

This mean anything? This is next to the washer settings dial. Also the clear plastic tube that is attached to the same unit has a cut in it. HELP :(
