Our Maytag washer doesn't spin all the time (on all modes (delicate, normal, casual), and yet sometimes works just fine regardless of what is in it (meaning small/med/high loads)
what happens is it agitates and when it comes to spinning, you hear a little noise like it wants to spin, but it sucks out the water and doesnt sping
it completes everything in the cycles except spins

so what we do is when we catch it is lift the lid and close it and it works
or pull push in the selection knob and pull it back out, but usually each of those cycles we would have to repeat the process

is this a typical clutch issue or transmission?
i saw some videos online about replacing clutch (whirlpool models, which this one seems like) and figured if i get that far i'd prefer to have the clutch part on hand, rather then being down, but if its a transmission issue, we'd probably just look at getting a bigger and better washer model for the price of a trans parts

just wanted to see if this is a common type of issue
