Default Clanking - Screeching - Won't spin
Model Number: WVSR1060G2WW   Brand: GE   Age: 5 - 10 years

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com

My washer makes a terrible clanking/screeching noise on agitation, and then it can't get started spinning. If I do only very small loads, it will usually spin, but unreliably. (No noise when it does spin.)

If it's a normal sized load, and I bypass the lid switch, then fairly often I can start it spinning by hand and then it will complete the cycle. But sometimes - in no discernible pattern - it will simply lock up and the only way to get it to release is to go through the whole noisy nightmare again.

I bought this washer used about a year ago, so not sure how old it is. I bought a tub washer and a belt but haven't instaleld them yet - think that will fix it? Or is it something big like the trans?

Thanks for any advice you may have!

sidfink43 has a spectacular aura about
Default

Operate it with the front panel off and see if you can determine what is happening.

The first thing you should do is check for something caught between the tub and basket, that could cause your problems.
