Hello,

I am having a recurring issue with a washer. Here are the details:

Maytag Neptune Washer
Model: **MAH9700AWW
Serial #: **10966890GG
Dated: **April 2005


Error Code 3E (not E3):

- Displayed on digital readout
- Code almost always happens after several successive loads (almost never on 1st load)
- Can happen during rinse or spin cycle
- Drum tries to spin several times (starts & moves slightly) then finally displays error code
- Solutions to clear error and proceed (tried in order):
** **1. Restarting by pressing Dial (sometimes clears and proceeds on 1st try)
** **2. Opening door and shifting clothes then Restarting
** **3. Waiting significant amount of time before Restarting
** **4. Turn off washer and start rinse or spin cycle manually
- Cycling power does not seem to have any effect
- Will sometimes run for several minutes before entering error code 3E again. **At that point, time remaining on cycle when it starts up again does not account for time it ran between error codes
- Seems to be independent of size and positioning of load
- Had some weight (cat litter bags on top of washer) to dampen vibration. **When these were removed, frequency of error code seemed to slow.
- Wiring and connections all look correct


Potential causes and solutions I have seen:

- Loose connections
- Control Board (info on 2 labels below)

- Hall Effect Sensor on motor (requires new motor + sensor)

I am planning to purchase a new control board but am unsure of the correct part as well as if a new sensor is needed with the control board.
