Bleach staining clothes
Model Number: LA9100 Brand: Whirlpool Age: 5 - 10 years
Hello- Our old washing machine from time to time produces bleach stains on dark clothes. Every week, when we wash clothes, we leave the whites to last which is the only time we use bleach. The next week (from time to time) when we run our first load (which is usually dark clothes), we will find that some bleach has stained and ruined our clothes. Some time ago, I was told that a chemical buildup on the OUTSIDE of the drum can accumulate and hold bleach until the next wash. We were told that a couple of times per year, we should run a hot water with vinegar cycle to wash away this outer drum scum ring. We have been doing this, but I'm not sure that this is or was the total problem. I suspect that maybe some residual bleach stays in the bleach dispensor and is not totally washed out by whatever mechanism is in there to do that and hence, more bleach is dispensed the next time we use the washer on dark clothes. Can anyone give guidance on this? Thanks.
