What parts do I need???
Model Number: PAV3200AWW Brand: Maytag Age: More than 10 years
Hi,
I have a Maytag "Performa" top loading washer that has been very good to me for the last 12 years. The model # is PAV3200AWW and serial # 10055901WD. I have noticed that half way through the washing cycle the machine dies and then I can not turn it on nor drain the water. I can also smell something burning. I have been told by a repairman that the washer's motor and drain pump work together so they both need to be replaced. After a day or so of leaving the washer alone I am able to drain the water out but I dare not wash any clothes now. My question is: should I replace the motor and the drain pump or just the motor, and also can I install the motor and if need be the drain pump myself or do I need to hire a repairman? I am pretty handy and have installed a hood microwave myself. Please answer my question soon as I am in desperate need to repair the washer ASAP. Thank you for your help.
