Model Number: WCSR2070TCWW Brand: GE Age: 5 - 10 years
Recently my washer has been "not working" as my g/f said. When I looked into it I noticed that the machine will fill up with water and then just sit there while the control would just click clockwise and then once it gets to the "drain" cycle it would drain. It completely skipped the agitate and spin cycles.
I messed with the switch during the agitate cycle and managed to get it to work for 10 seconds and then it shut off. I did the same test with the spin cycle and it did the same thing. I bypassed the lid switch and it did the same thing on both cycles, so it is not the switch. I haven't looked at the fuse, but I assume that if it were a fuse it wouldn't work at all. My assumption at this point is that it's the motor and it's over heating because after I wait for a minute or so I'm able to get it to agitate or spin for another 10 or so seconds. The washer is fairly old so I'm not sure if it has the LED indicator lights. My g/f says that it's not working so we have to get a new one Ads By Google Related Models Last edited by Chubi2000 : 09-19-2009 at 05:20 PM. |

I am with you on saving money, but sometimes it is hard on relationships.
Hard to tell, sounds like a motor or wiring issue but the timing does not seem right for a motor overheating. I have seen a lot of these GE machines with bad contact on the wiring connector on the motor. I would take it off, clean it up with contact spray and see if that fixes things. At the same time I would inspect all of the wiring for a break or short. Inside the console you should find a wiring diagram and maybe some tech notes which might help. Good luck
