I had some plumbing work done in my basement of the water pipes. When I went to do a wash, right at start-up it sputtered (air in the line) and then continued to flow. After that it would stop flowing every 30 seconds and would only start flowing again when I shut the machine of and then started it again. I had to do it about 4-5 times to get the wash cycle started. The rinse cycle worked fine.

After the wash completed, I started directly on the Rinse cycle and it worked fine.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

I am guessing that you are washing on the hot cycle and rinsing on the cold cycle. In that case check the inlet valve for some obstruction, and if it is clar try replacing the inlet valve. First use a meter to make sure voltage is getting to the inlet valve continuously.
