Hi I have a frigidaire gallery model number glws1649as4 and I have taken the screws out of the back then out of the bottom so I could try to take the belt off and get a new one. I cant seem to get any of the panels off to get to anything! I put all teh screws back in until I can figure this out...Help!!

Hi Robyn

I think you need to attack this baby from the top and front, and you also need a service manual.

Here it is.

Let us know how it goes and if you need more info.

good luck

Ok I have the top off but cant seem to figure out how to get the front off. Someone told me to lean it against a wall and pull down on the front until it disengages and slides off...can I lay it down to do this?

There should be two screws at the bottom of the front panel, take them out and the panel should drop down and come off.

sorry to be such a pest. What about if the belt looks good? Could the problem be something else? Or do I want to go ahead and change it?

You have not told us what the problem is and why you felt you had to replace the belt.

If you can give us a good description of what the washer is doing or not doing then we can probably give you some suggestions.

thanks

Well it was whining when it had always been normal...cant remember what else...its been out for 2 months now. I thought I may leave the front off tomorrow and plug it in and turn it on and see exactly what I hear. I do know it would feel up normally I want to say it start when the agitator started moving. I can let u know more tomorrow.
