In the wash cycle, the agitator rocks back and forth gently and advances (maybe) on every third or fourth movement. If I give the agitator a very gentle nudge in the right direction, it moves correctly. The machine fills, drains and spins properly. There are no leaks.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

The first thing you want to do is check out the agitator cams or 'dogs'.

Here is the part along with a video on how to check it.
