Washer won't spin all other cycle work good. Washer will spin if I manually start turning the tub.

Hi Gene:


I have a 2000 Maytag model number LAT9420AAE Serial 10470402YK.

At firat the washer was making a noise and I smelled some buring rubberso I shut it down. The washer would not agatate or spin but the motor would run.

The belts were loose so I replaced them but that cured nothing.

I next thought the transmission went bad and Maytag sent me a new transmission.

The washer now will agatate both when it should while washing and also when it is in the spin cycle. It will pump out the water but it will not spin out.

I am not sure if the motor is suspose to reverse itself to spin out but it only goes one way.

I am stumped HELPPPPPP........Please

Hi Ed,

The motor is reversible and should rotate in different directions for agitation and spin. The problem most likely is a bad timer.
