machine seems to wash, inner tub spin slow and agitator moves but during the rinse cycle, machine suppose to spin fast to ring out clothes but only see the agitator moving. water drains but leaves clothes wetter than normal. can you please help me determine what's causing it so i can purchase the correct part. thank you very much.

Hi.

The inner tub suppose to spin (move) only during the Spin cycle. So, does the washer spin at all when you turn the timer to Spin?

Open the front panel using the putty knife (two clips at the top) and check if the motor reversing when you change cycle from wash to spin.

Simon,

Finally got a chance to look at the machine. In the SPIN cycle, I could not tell if the motor reversed but I could see the TUB rotate clockwise but spins like something is holding it back to do a fast spin. I've repeated this several times and couple of times the TUB didn't even spin at all, although the agitator spun.

Hi.

There is an even chance that it's a bad thrust bearing or the transmission.
The bearing job is much less $$ and easier too.

Here are the breakdown diagrams and Replacement parts for Maytag MAV5000AWW WASHER, ATLANTIS | AppliancePartsPros.com

Thank you.

Simon.

Replaced It But Have The Same Problem. Repair Was Taking Too Long Plus Trans Too High ($200+) So We Opted To Purchase A New Machine.
