Default Kenmore washer burning up
Model Number: 20982   Brand: Kenmore   Age: 5 - 10 years

First this washer started leaking a small amount of grease under the unit. Then the klunk during a transmission change got very loud. Then the agitator spindle started to chatter/wobble off center during agitation. Lastly the unit started to smell like burning electrical wires. From other posts I see that I need to:

Check the motor amp draw in spin
Check the coupler spinning pressure with the motor removed
Check the timer contacts
Check all other wiring.

What is the likely cause of the wobbly agitator?

Any other suggestions?

Thanks,

George
